Pyrite "Sun" Sparta, Illinois.

Pyrite suns are formed in the shale layer immediately above the coal layer in the region of Sparta Illinois.

Their shape is unique to this deposit and many theories exist to explain them but we can only speculate.

My theory is they were algae colonies that after being buried and decomposing left voids that allowing the pyrite a place to form one of the most  spectacular and beautiful forms of pyrite.

$35.00

Pyrite Eagle Ford Shale N.W. Dallas County, Texas.

Small bright sharp pyrite cubes on druzy pyrite.

Crystals on all sides, no matrix. Self collected.

No damage but has two attachment points at one end.

Azurite Touissit Mine Oujda, Morocco

This is one of the most spectacular Moroccan Azurite clusters I have come across is a long time.

It is from a collection I acquired last year.  The photo cannot do the color and beauty of this specimen justice.

It has a very deep azurite blue color with great luster. It is basically a split vug filled with thousands of spectacular azurite blades.

$1700.00

Small bright sharp pyrite cubes on druzy pyrite. This one is matris on the bottom which is basically pyritized shale.  The a few small cracks in lower part of cluster which are formed either during formation or maybe shrinkage fractures as is the shale hardens around it.  Self collected.

Beautiful large coffee colored barite on matrix with fantastic zoning.  No damage.

Stibnite, Barite Baia Bates, Romania

This is a fine example of the thick bladed stibnite that came out of Romania many years ago. These are no longer coming out of the mines and seldom seen except from old collections. This is a nice cabinet speciman consisting of many large grayish black crystals with a few small clusters of barite.

$150.00

Galena, Calcite Huanzala Huanuco Department, Peru This is a very beautiful specimen made up of spectacular cubo-octahedron, (if I remember my crystalography correctly), galena with great luster. It is partially covered with calcite crystals which have a dull luster. It is a floater with no attachment points. It came from and old stash of galena brought to the U. S. several years ago by a mining geologist friend. The picture cannot do it justice.

$30.00
